Broadway Theatre Studio was founded in 2009 as a development workshop and incubator for new American plays and musicals. We sponsor table readings of selected scripts using our Resident Company of actors, then work with the best pieces to produce staged readings. Outstanding works may be optioned and developed for a full production by our producers and creative team.

In the first half of its 2011 season, BTS workshopped “The Ansonia,” a new comedy by Jack Feldstein. During the second half of 2011 we worked with Zoe Sarnak on her original musical, “The Quad.” Currently, Broadway Theatre Studio is developing its latest latest form of original theatre: the BTS Playmalgam. We are also soliciting submissions from new playwrights for our Fall 2012 workshop season.

The BTS Resident Company is drawn from the hundreds of actors that have attended our workshops and studied with us. In addition to serving as the most important asset of our play development process, our Resident Company also forms the core of our staged productions, competitions, and showcases.
